Self Architect’s design for the former Thorn Lea nursing home site consists of 4 no. blocks with 69 no. one and two bed apartments. The buildings step up from three storeys at the front of the site to four storeys at the rear of the site, where the apartments have views out across the Upper Don Valley. The apartment blocks enclose a courtyard and residential landscaped garden. The massing and façade treatment respect the character of the terraced housing opposite, while also being contemporary.
